Privacy
Neston Green Belt is run by local volunteers. We only collect what we need to protect green spaces around Neston, we never sell or share it for marketing, and you can ask us to delete anything about you.
Questions, or a request to see or delete your information: email hello@nestongreenbelt.org.uk.
What we keep, and why
Reporting a development
- Photos of the leaflet or card. We remove location data from photos as they arrive. An organiser checks them before any are shown on the site, and they're only published if they don't show anyone's name or address.
- What you tell us about the scheme, and the street (or the start of the postcode) where the leaflet arrived. We never keep a house number. Publicly we only show the village, never the street; organisers see the street on a map, placed to about 100 metres.
- Your name and email, if you give them. Unless you ticked the box saying we can contact you, we delete them as soon as an organiser has reviewed your report.
Email updates
- Your email address and your choices (which updates, which green spaces, how often). Every email goes to you alone and has a link to change or stop them. Unsubscribing deletes your address from our list.
Telling us how you use a field
- How you use the green space, for how long, and anything you've seen there. This is evidence for protecting it (for example as Local Green Space). We publish totals, never individual answers.
- Your name, email and postcode area are optional. If you give them and agree, we may ask you to help with a formal statement later.
Volunteering
- Your name, how to contact you, and what you'd like to help with. Only organisers see it. We keep it until you tell us to stop, or until it's no longer needed.
Meetings
- Organisers record who came to campaign meetings. The names are only ever seen by organisers: public meeting pages show how many people came, never who.
Spam protection
- To stop people flooding our forms, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address. It can't be turned back into the address.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the website, stores the files, runs the "Verify you are human" check and sends our emails.
- Anthropic (the company behind the AI model Claude) reads photos of leaflets and handwritten meeting notes for us, so we can type them up. Photos are sent from our own server, not your browser, and only the reading comes back.
- OpenStreetMap and postcodes.io turn the street or postcode you give into a rough position on our maps. Only that street or postcode is sent.
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking.
Cookies
- A short-lived cookie that shows a message after you submit a form. It expires after a minute.
- The "Verify you are human" check (Cloudflare Turnstile) on our forms, which may set its own cookie to do its job.
- Organisers who sign in get a sign-in cookie from Cloudflare Access.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it: email hello@nestongreenbelt.org.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Planning applications, council documents and decisions shown on this site come from the council's public register. If you comment on a planning application, the council publishes your comment under its own privacy rules, not ours.
